Before the Try-out
|
| |
Make sure that you arrive at the Staten Island JCC a little earlier than the noted tryout time. You will have to make your way down the stairs to the pool. You will need permission from the Fitness Desk to enter the locker rooms (they are computer controlled). Make sure that the swimmer has a suit, towel and goggles.

The Tryout
|
| |
We will group swimmers by age. They will be asked to get in the water and swim a 25 to a 50 of each stroke. The older swimmers (11 and up) will be asked to also swim a 100 - 200 IM. We are looking for swimmers to have a knowledge of all four competitive swim strokes. Being weak in a stroke does not automatically mean that they won't be placed on the team. We look at the overall swimmer and make a judgement on what we believe is the swimmers potential for growth. If they aren't ready for RAC, we have a pre-competitive group that will teach the strokes with the goal of preparing the swimmer for the team.

After Tryouts
|
| |
You will not know the results of tryouts immediately. The coaches will sit down and discuss the evaluations. You will be notified by email by that Saturday after tryouts. If you don't get an email by Saturday - email richmondaquatics@aol.com. For those who make the team: all of the registration forms and payment information can be found on this website. First practice will be the following Monday. All new members will have to submit the Registration form and payment of $100 on the first day of practice. The rest of the paperwork will need to be brought to the Annual Team Meeting on Wednesday, September 14th.
